SNOW DAY!
Now. Snow.

So, if you’re a resident of either of the Carolinas, chances are good that you heard about the big winter storm that came through this weekend. The weatherman predicted that snow would start falling at about 3:00 on Friday afternoon, and sure enough, the snow started at 3:00 on the button. By 4:30 the ground was covered and people were driving all crazy. I got home safely by car, and Josh had to stay at work until 8:00 (I KNOW, RIGHT?! Jerks.) and then walk the 3 1/2 miles from downtown Asheville to our apartment.
Rocky LOVES snow. He was so ready for me to put down the camera and take him outside to sniff and hop and eat some ice.

Once Josh made it back safely, we built a fire and hunkered down, hoping like crazy that the power would stay on. (For those of you who may not know, during our last big snow, we lost power and eventually left town when our thermostat bottomed out.) To be safe, I had the heat cranked up and the fridge turned way down, but THANKFULLY, power prevailed. The roads were well enough plowed that we were able to venture out last night to Burgermeisters in West Asheville with a couple of friends. Below are some pictures I got before we left.
My sweet husband clearing off the car like a trooper:

A neighbor’s motorcycle left to shiver in the cold:

Snow always makes things seem so much quieter, doesn’t it? I loved the sight of these two vehicles, left to sit this one out and let the fancy 4-wheel-drives do the hard work.

And here I am, all bundled up and ready to face the elements in the name of chicken tacos and pickle chips:

I love that yellow coat. Once, when I was wearing it at a bar downtown, a girl told me it made me look like Paddington Bear “in a good way.” I’ll take that.
