September

I can’t believe it’s already time for another September.

August was a good month in our house. We were able to relax a little, enjoy the summer breeze, read and write, drink our morning coffee, cook breakfast, explore, laugh, and enjoy the simple glee that comes from being young and alive.

September is always a favorite of mine. In rolls the fall, the cool air, the pumpkins and the apples and (most exciting), my birthday. I’ve been forgetting my age lately – when people ask, I have to stop and ask myself Am I really 25 already? And now here comes 26 when I’ve just gotten used to the idea of being a whole quarter of a century old.

Earlier this year, I was off to a great start – eating right, exercising, even running a couple of 5Ks! I was proud of myself, happy with how I looked, and filled with the joy of being in a truly healthy body for the first time in a long time.

Sadly, I lost my momentum (and about half of my progress) around about June — so I’m taking this month as a perfect opportunity to regain control! Starting with another 5k…in 11 days…woof.

After this one, I’m hoping to sign up for another in October. And another in November. And yes, even one in December. I figure, what better way to stay accountable to this fitness thing than to keep paying money for registration fees I’d feel guilty wasting by not doing my best?

So that’s my main goal for September: get back to workin’ on my fitness! Our local YWCA ran a Groupon for membership that was too good to pass up, so I’m taking my first trip to Club W. tomorrow. Back on the horse.

How do you motivate yourself to achieve your goals when you’ve fallen off the wagon?
